About the Instructor
My name is Dr. Forman. I am pleased to be teaching Chemistry again this summer for the fifth year. Before my graduate program in English, I studied science in college and completed extensive coursework in Chemistry and Chemistry Labs at UC Santa Barbara, where I received my B.A. degree in Biological Sciences. I also grew up in a family of scientists: geologists (with an oil company), physicists (one a professor at Pomona, another a scientist at Los Alamos Laboratory in New Mexico), and computer scientists. Five of my close family members have master degrees or Ph.D.’s in science, and, had I not discovered writing and literature after college, I would surely have been one of them. I spent my undergraduate years as a science major preparing for a career as a doctor of medicine.
